Our Demographic
Residence of Life is currently licensed by the country of Costa Rica to operate two homes with permanent housing for twenty legally abandoned boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 18. Casa Casey houses ten children between the ages of 2 and 12, while Casa Timoteo is home to ten teenage girls between the ages of 13 and 17. The majority of the children within our homes have been permanently separated from their families due to severe neglect, abandonment and abuse, while only a few of the children are true orphans.
In 2021, Residence of Life received additional training to launch a foster program, Programa Esperanza, or the Program of Hope, that will work hand in hand with the local church to care for the children within our walls. Our desire is that as the boys and girls within our programs heal and communicate a desire to live with a family, they will be organically matched with a known and trusted family, opening up a space within the homes for another child in need.
After several roadblocks and restarts, this program was again put on pause in the summer of 2024 due to lack of funding. Although Programa Esperanza isn’t running at the moment, we’ve celebrated several miracles since fall of 2024: five of our children have left the home to live in families! Two of our girls were adopted, one by a former staff member’s family and the other by a volunteer family. In addition to that, a sibling group of 3 went to live with one of our board member’s families in a foster to adopt license. We continue to trust the Lord that He will raise up families for the rest of our children and defy the statistics.

Our Mission
While our hope and prayer is that each of our children find a forever family, we know that they might not. For that reason, we strive together to provide a chance for them to grow up in a loving, Christ-centered family environment where they will be nurtured to a sense of belonging. We believe that true healing can only be found in Jesus and that is modeled by our team on a day to day basis, with counseling provided to help the children break the chains of poverty and addiction in their own lives. Our operating mission is based off of Psalm 127 which dictates how we raise our kids: as an inheritance from the Lord, arrows of faith aimed towards changing future generations.
No matter if the kids are with us for a few months, years or remain with us until they are 18 and beyond, our prayer is that they know they will always belong to the Residence of Life family!

House Church
In October of 2023, God answered years of prayers and a church plant was launched on our property! Our local church sent their associate and youth pastor to shepherd the ministry, not only for our staff and kids but for the community. With mid-week and Sunday services, prayer nights, youth group, children’s and women’s ministry, counseling, discipleship and more, we are finally beginning to see the move of God we have yearned for.
For the safety of the children, we can not publish the name of the church.
